The  Companhia do Vale do Rio Doce (valley of the river Doce) which earlier had in the state Minas Gerais dug up  iron ore and transported it for embarkation on ships at the port of Vitória in the state of Espirito Santo, owns the two most modern railway lines of Brasil for passenger and goods transport. One of them (EFVM, Estrada de Ferro Vitória-Minas) goes from Vitória to Belo Horizonte, the other (EFC, Estrada de Ferro de Carajas) from São Louis to Carajas. In Carajas, today still gold is dug up, whilst the mines in the state of Minas Gerais are exhausted. There the CRVD has successfully changed to transport of agricultural and other goods.

For this presentation you will need the (free) new PowerPoint Viewer 2003 (that's the latest version) which you can download from the web site below of Microsoft. With this viewer you can look at all PowerPoint presentations. Thus you can train your knowledge of Brasilian Portuguese and prepare yourself for a trip, as this language is very useful for a visit. Then click on the presentations mentioned below, then "open the file" (guaranteed free of Virus!), the size is about
1-2 mB, and after finishing automatically return to this intermediate page. We wish you a lot of pleasure!
