The International
Co-operative for the Development of Latin-American Railways AIFFLA has
now been working for nearly two years. Up to know AIFFLA was heavily dependent
from its mother organisation FLB. This should change now. Buy AIFFLA bonds
and help to make AIFFLA independent and powerful. AIFFLA is already working.
In Uruguay the organisation was helping
Urutren to buy a rail bus.
In Brazil AIFFLA will help restoring
a Locobreque of the former São Paulo - Santos funicular railway
as soon as a financing and work plan has been established. For more information
look at
www.aiffla.com
Bonds for CHF50.00 and CHF100.00 are
available in unlimited quantities. Orders may be placed at:
FAHRPLANCENTER, S. Rachdi, Bahnhof,
CH-6422 Steinen SZ, info@fahrplancenter.com
, your order will be forwarded. Interested customers in EU countries may
pay to a German account, excluding high international money transfer rates.
Thank you for supporting AIFFLA.

LATIN AMERICA NEWS
ARGENTINA: Tren a las Nubes
Due to damage to the tracks, partly caused
by floods, Tren a las Nubes has been withdrawn until new notice. The closure
of the line will last at least all over April or even longer.
BRASIL
New Tourist trains
On April 4 a new tourist train between
São Paulo Luz and Jundiaí, called "Circuito das Frutas" will
commence operation. It will run every Saturday and be operated by CPTM.
The train has one locomotive and one each first and second class long distance
coach, owned by ABPF.
May 8 will see the start of the Trem do
Pantanal from Campo Grande Indubrasil to Miranda. In 2010, this journey
will be extended to Corumbá. Track rehabilitation between Miranda
and Corumbá already has commenced.
Goods and passenger trains
March 2009 saw the reopening of the Corinto
- Pirapora branch (135 km) by FCA. Today a rather rare event. Cacequí
- Santana do Livramento has also some chance to be reopened by ALL.
Piauí state is looking for money
to rehabilitate the roughly 375 km long line from Altos to Parnaíba
and the Port of Luis Correia. The Port of Luis Correia will now be finally
completed, after a gap of 39 years without any work on it. The line shall
be operated by passenger and freight trains.
Suburban Transport
Suburban rail operator SuperVía
is blocking the start of the local train "Barrinha" from Japerí
to Barra do Piraí. The company Central has the coaches etc. ready,
but the locomotive, which must be refurbished by SuperVía, has not
been finished and has not been transferred to Central.
CHILE: Talca - Constitución
The metre gauge branch line Talca - Constitución
is undergoing some repairs during 2009. At many places sleepers are replaced.
Furthermore an additional railbus is undergoing complete refurbishment
COLOMBIA: Tourist Train
Calí city and region want to operate
the "Sugar and Coffee Train" on their own. For this, they took over coaches
and a locomotive from national operator STF. Still in 2009 services should
begin between Calí and Cumbre.
PERU
Huancayo - Huancavelica
Re-gauging of the line to Huancavelica is
going ahead. During this work the line has both gauges, later the inner
rail for the narrow gauge will be removed. Several pieces of rolling stock
have been re-gauged to 1435 mm.
Machu Picchu Power Station: Funicular
One further new photograph shows the departure
of the funicular from the lower terminal near the power station.
