Co-operative
AIFFLA
New: Call
for help Uruguay
In 2009 the International Co-operative
for the Development of Latin-American Railways AIFFLA is already three
years old.
Up to now AIFFLA is still heavily dependent
from its mother organisation FLB. This should change now. Buy AIFFLA bonds
and help to make AIFFLA independent and powerful. AIFFLA is already working.
Buy bonds to make AIFFLA strong and
independent. For yourself or as a gift to friends and relatives who like
Latin America and railways.
AIFFLA has already helped in Uruguay
with the purchase of a rail bus for the co-operative Urutren. Urutrain
is a co-operative which has been founded in the spirit of AIFFLA.
In addition AIFFLA has accepted to contribute
to the reconstruction of a Locobreque of the old São Paulo - Santos
incline, as soon as a corresponding financing and work plan has been established
These are only two activities; more
will follow soon.
Inform yourself on the home page www.aiffla.com
There are bonds of CHF50.00 and CHF100.00
which can be acquired in unlimited quantities. The co-operative is established
according to Swiss law. Co-operative bond holders are only liable to the
sum of bonds acquired and not any further.
Orders may be placed at:
FAHRPLANCENTER, S. Rachdi, Bahnhof,
CH-6422 Steinen SZ, info@fahrplancenter.com
, your order will be forwarded. Interested customers in EU countries may
pay to a German account, excluding high international money transfer rates.
Thank you for supporting AIFFLA.

FLB INTERNALS
Dardo Azambuya
Dardo is a great friend of Uruguayan Railways
and he was always very active in this sense. A few months ago he suffered
a heavy accident on its way to work, resulting in a quadriplegia (paralysing
arms and legs). Such a heavy change of live causes also many psychological
problems. FLB members are also friends of Latin America and its people,
so they can do something for Dardo. Please send e-mails or cards to the
publisher of "Volta o Trem", all will be forwarded to Dardo. This will
help him a lot for his mental recovery, knowing that he is not alone! Thanks
a lot!
INCOFER on Television
During March 2009 the German TV Channel Südwestrundfunk
produced a movie about Costa Rica including
the railways there. The above mentioned FLB members
participated on this movie by helping with information
about the Railways.
ARTE TV will present this movie on October 1,
2009 at 20.15 GMT+2.

LATIN AMERICA NEWS
ARGENTINA
Looking for an operator: The metre
gauge line Tucumán - Tafi Viejo has been rehabilitated and a railcar
acquired from Spain’s FEVE, all financed by the federal state. But operations
cannot start, because there is no operator fort his passenger service!
Costa Rica
An overwhelming success is the passenger train
service between San José and Heredia, in operation since July 2009.
Trains are scheduled every 30 minutes. during morning and evening rush
hours. State railway INCOFER has big problems to transport all intending
passengers with former FEVE (Spain) railcars, and relief trains are often
inserted. Passengers are often waiting up to an hour to ride the train.
Not only commuters are travelling by train, many people are using it for
for free time trips. Instead of the planned 2500 daily passengers, 5500
to 7000 are conveyed per day!
PERU / CHILE
In early September FLB member David Sorg
spent two weeks in Peru. His initial mission was to clarify how far this
railway could be touristically used. The investigations unearthed a lot
of facts and the influence by David and AIFFLA resulted in some very important
steps:
Ownership of the railway could finally
be clarified.
Evaluation of the very poor infrastructure.
Evaluation of the of the rolling stock
condition.
An integrated concept for this railway
may be elaborated together with Ferroconsult, the Government of Tacna and
the Tacna free trade zone. The original infrastructure of the 1850s must
be replaced urgently, followed by the introduction of local passenger,
tourist and freight services. cCovering the great demand, the railway will
operate without losses. AIFFLA will participate directly or indirectly
on the tenders. More information at the meeting on October 31, 2009.
