Co-operative
AIFFLA
In 2011 the International Co-operative
for the Development of Latin-American Railways AIFFLA is already five years
old.
Up to now AIFFLA is still heavily dependent
from its mother organisation FLB. This should change now. Buy AIFFLA bonds
and help to make AIFFLA independent and powerful. AIFFLA is already working.
Buy bonds to make AIFFLA strong and
independent. For yourself or as a gift to friends and relatives who like
Latin America and railways.
AIFFLA has already helped in Uruguay
with the purchase of a rail bus for the co-operative Urutren. Urutrain
is a co-operative which has been founded in the spirit of AIFFLA.
In addition AIFFLA has accepted to contribute
to the reconstruction of a Locobreque of the old São Paulo - Santos
incline, as soon as a corresponding financing and work plan has been established
These are only two activities; more
will follow soon.
Inform yourself on the home page www.aiffla.com
There are bonds of CHF50.00 and CHF100.00
which can be acquired in unlimited quantities. The co-operative is established
according to Swiss law. Co-operative bond holders are only liable to the
sum of bonds acquired and not any further.
Orders may be placed at:
FAHRPLANCENTER, S. Rachdi, Bahnhof,
CH-6422 Steinen SZ, fahrplancenter@fahrplancenter.com
, your order will be forwarded. Interested customers in EU countries may
pay to a German account, excluding high international money transfer rates.
Thank you for supporting AIFFLA.

LATIN AMERICA NEWS
ARGENTINA
Under extremely dubious circumstances
and with participation of the workers union La Fraternidad the train El
Gran Capitán Buenos Aires - Apóstoles (formerly to Posadas)
was shut down indefinitely.
By mid-December Trenes de Buenos Aires,
TBA, introduced a weekly service with a Wadloper DMU between Pilar and
Apóstoles. Apparently it was an intentional act to withdraw El Gran
Capitán in favour of a TBA service.
Talgo services between Buenos Aires and
Mar del Plata have been expanded to 8 trips per week starting in early
December 2011.
ARGENTINA/URUGUAY
The international service, Tren Binacional,
between Argentina and Uruguay, operates now only between Pilar (on the
outskirts of Buenos Aires) - Paysandú.
CUBA
State Railways UFC may import over 70 passenger coaches
from Ucraine and in a big rehabilitation programme all existing coaches
are currently being refurbished.
ECUADOR
The rehabilitated line from Ibarra to Salinas will
reopen in January 2012.
MEXICO
The last Mexican state railway, Ferrocarril
del Istmo de Tehuantepec, may also be privatized during 2012.
PERU
December 5 saw the rehabilitation of passenger
services between Huancayo and Huancavelica; there is one train daily except
Wednesday.
A few days later floods caused again the
withdrawal of this service for some time.
December 2011 saw the start of operations
of Expreso Ferroviaro del Peru as the fourth operator between Cuzco and
Machu Picchu.
To all FLB members and readers of Volta o
Trem
a happy and healthy New Year!
