On 1st April 2013, Metro line 2 opened for traffic (12,8 km long from María Montez to Eduardo Brito with a total of 14 stations). This new line in east-westerly direction connects at Pablo Duarte station with the north-south line 1. Fifteen 3-car trains from Alstom operate on the line.
